Donation to the “Meiji-maru” Maritime Museum Project

The Meiji-maru is the oldest surviving iron ship in Japan, and has been designated as a national important cultural asset. In 1876, the Emperor Meiji made a trip around Ahu Area, and sailed back aboard the Meiji-maru from Aomori to Yokohama. The national holiday “Marine Day” commemorates the day, July 20th, when Emperor Meiji safely returned to the port of Yokohama.
“Meiji Maru” left the brilliant footsteps in the Japanese modern history. On 31st of January, Fuji Trading, engaged in the marine industries, donated JPY 200,000 to the Meiji-maru’s museum restoration activities of Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology, to support large-scale restoration of the ship so that this historical legacy will be left to posterity.
