Fuji Trading was founded in 1953 as a supplier of stores and foodstuffs to merchant ships around the world.
Over more than 40 years since, the company has expanded and diversified into a supplier of technology, offshore drilling equipment and machinery as well as a developer of new markets and business opportunities.
During this time, Fuji Trading has retained as its primary goal the desire to anticipate, understand and satisfy the needs of its customers through the network of a wide range of services to a variety of markets.
By understanding these needs Fuji Trading has been able to spot and capitalize on new business opportunities before others do.
And Fuji Trading acts as a supplier to a growing number of passenger ships around the world, while expanding the business field into exporting and wholesaling foreign foods and liquors.

History


1953

Fuji Trading Company founded by C. Koike in Kobe, Japan with a capital of 250 thousand yen.

1959

Yokohama branch office opened.

1960

Moji branch office opened

1964

Oslo, Norway branch office opened

1967

Head office moved to Yokohama, Kobe branch office opened.

1970

Machinery Department established, computerization of company began with installment of IBM S/3 computers.

1971

New office and warehouse completed in Kobe.

1972

Capital increased to 100 million yen, Machinery Department moved to Kobe,
Engineering Department established in Kobe to render ship repair and technical services

1973

Rotterdam branch office opened. New headquarters in Yokohama completed.

1974

Tokyo branch office opened. Wholly owned subsidiary Fuji Trading(Marine) B.V. established in Rotterdam. On-line computer system in head office completed.

1975

Part of Business Department moved from Yokohama to Tokyo Office.

1978

Ship Store Catalog edited and published by Fuji Trading was established by ISSA as the standard reference catalog. London and New York branch offices opened. Yokohama office expanded.

1979

Fuji Trading(America) Inc. established as wholly-owned subsidiary.

1982

Fuji Trading(Singapore) Pte. Ltd. established as wholly-owned subsidiary.

1983

Kobe office rebuilt. Hong Kong branch office opened.

1985

Oslo branch office reopened.

1987

Fuji Trading (Marine) Co.,Ltd. established as wholly-owned subsidiary in Hong Kong.

1989

Service to Australian LNG tankers began, service to passenger ships started in earnest with QEU.

1992

A new business division structure adopted. Marine Logistics Headquarters / Import & Sales Headquarters established.

1993

Fuji Trading (Singapore) acquired ISO 9002

1994

Ship Stores Catalog (Second Edition) edited and published by Fuji Trading was authorized by IMPA as the standard reference catalog. Fuji Japan aquired ISO 9002

1995

Fuji Rotterdam aquired ISO 9002. Dubai office opened.

1997

Saudi Arabia office opened. Yukinobu Fujimoto took over the seat of president from Hideo Koike who became chairman.

1999

Shanghai office opened
