Profile Profile
Over a hundred years ago it began in Abruzzo, made of men with passion just like any other enterprise. The roots of De Cecco’s story are to be sought in Italy’s pre-unitary days, when, in Fara San Martino, a small village situated at the foot of the Maiella, Don Nicola De Cecco produced “the best flour of the surrounding countryside” by his stone mills.
By 1886 “the best flour of the surrounding countryside” had started its long journey towards becoming the superior quality pasta, as we recognize it today. Combining old craft traditions and engineering intuitions, Don Filippo De Cecco realized a new “low temperature” drying process, which allows pasta to dry in 24 hours, exceeding the limitations imposed by weather conditions.
Another important milestone is the 1986 “Olive Oil Company” establishment, the first step towards differentiation of the product range, which will expand further in 1993.
Also De Cecco proposes a tasty Gnocchi which is the typical dish of the Italian culinary tradition. De Cecco’s Gnocchi is originated from the traditional recipe that combines only selected potatoes and soft-wheat flour.
Now we have a delicious alternative to classic Gnocchi, that is Chicche. Chicche is a small-size Gnocchi and has superiority to be ready in 1 – 2 minutes only.
Today the De Cecco corporate brand is synonym for high quality in the semolina pasta sector and also that for high quality and tasty Italian food. De Cecco Brand Products have been loved all over the world.
